NaNoWriMo...day 7

Harumph!  NaNoWriMo...day 7!  I'm only 2000 words behind, but the beauty of it only being 7 days in is that an extra 30 words a day gets me back on track.  Did I mention I've never written a book?  I have started two books...I have 18000 words into the first, and 3000 words into the second.  Now that I've started NNWM I see that 3000 words into a book isn't much more than dipping one's toe in the water.  I started it two days before I discovered the existence of NNWM so, being the good Catholic that I am, I didn't use that book...I started a new one.  Such the rule follower.  This is some crazy sh*t this writing thing!  Sometimes I'm writing like I have literary diarrhea and sometimes I'm in the L.A. tar pits...( insert * here to check on facts later...a nifty little trick I picked up at some point in my search for distraction)  I feel though deep in the pits though that this NNWM business is going to have a profound effect on my life!  Of course my story is utter crap!  Well, the idea is Brilliant of course, but my ability to tell it is wretched, but I'm just writing writing writing ...screw punctuation, screw grammar...Are we in first person, third who knows who cares, just get the words on the page...I'll flower it up later.  Meantime I'm clinging desperately to the words of smarter people...Catherynne M. Valente  and Neil Gaiman ...and writing like my life depends on it!...or shall I say upon which it depends?

Baby Steps

I have added up the docs, and it turns out much to my surprise that I have written 18,810 words towards my book.  That is roughly a quarter of a book!  Perhaps I should keep on trucking...typing that is!  Excuses aren't looking as appealing as once before!
